While they are not recommended for use with dumbbells, they do work well with traditional barbells. The dimensions of each plate vary, but the largest plates, the 45s, are about 3 inches thick. When they arrive, there may be a strong chemical smell. This is common for rubber products, and it is recommended to leave them outside for a few days, preferably in direct sunlight, until the smell dissipates. These plates are a great option for those on a budget, but keep in mind that they may have a strong smell that takes time to dissipate.
