It requires an AAA battery and is not automatic, thus requiring manual setup. The timer has a clear and pleasant sound that is not too loud. The product comes with a loop for hanging but no lanyard. It is not a learning device despite being advertised as such. Users can stop and reset the alarm with the two reset buttons. The timer can last a long time on a single battery. Unfortunately, 2 out of 4 of the timers did not work out of the box, and the magnet is not strong enough to support the timer adequately. A 75% defect rate is a major concern, although the timers that do work are easy to use, have a colorful design and are accurate.
