The sound alert, however, is reportedly too low, needing the user to keep their ear adjacent to the tester, and it lacks an auto-off feature which makes it easy to leave on or accidentally turn on. The device is also made with poor-quality materials, which result in it breaking after a short period of time. The diamond tester also works on gemstones, not just diamonds.
