The tread pattern is not deep enough to collect a lot of mud. However, these boots are not ideal for work as they do not provide much ankle stabilization. The black toe can be shined with mink oil. The boots fit true to size for most and need a break-in period. Overall, they are a good, long-lasting boot for the price. However, Ariat does not seem to stand behind their products as one customer experienced stitching issues within three weeks of casual wear and was denied a return under warranty.
