Yes the magnets are probably strong enough to pick up a ferrous (steel) nail or screw in the drywall (and wood 2x4 stud) but 1) the tile would need to be thin and 2) i feel that screw position marking will be a slow and imperfect process. It’s probably better to remove the tile and possibly replace it once the studs are located and mapped on the wall. -
