Mystery & Thrillers Editorial Review
**** "The Forgotten" is a movie that unexpectedly captures its audience with a mixture of intrigue and emotional depth. Although some viewers entered with lower expectations, they left pleasantly surprised by the film's direction and overall narrative. The focal point of the story is Julianne Moore's performance as Telly Paretta, a mother grappling with the unfathomable grief of losing her son – a loss that spirals into a disorienting quest to prove that he existed while everyone around her claims otherwise. The film is described as intimate, steering away from typical sci-fi tropes of loud special effects, instead opting to delve into the complexities of personal relationships and the raw pains of loss. Many reviews highlight Moore's excellent portrayal of a tortured character and praise the supporting cast, particularly Alfre Woodard's presence. However, as the plot unfolds, it becomes apparent that the film's multiple storylines can sometimes detract from the central theme, leaving some viewers feeling lost in a muddle of narrative threads that struggle to align. The movie's aesthetic also garners attention, with its distinctive visual style contributing to the enigmatic atmosphere of the unfolding tale. Overall, "The Forgotten" delivers a thought-provoking journey that many find resonates long after viewing, though it does not come without its flaws. While some may see inConsistencies in pacing and plot development, others appreciate the film's ambition to tackle profound emotional themes within a sci-fi framework. **
